As the school year comes to an end, seniors are reflecting on their experiences as Omaha South High Packers, especially the memories and friendships they have made over the past four years. Before they walk the stage and toss their caps, some members of Omaha South’s Class of 2026 took a few moments to share what has meant the most to them.
Seniors Gavin Strouts, Sindy Gallegos, Miguel Gomez Serna, Naila Vazquez Tapia and Evelyn Velazquez-Becerra shared their most memorable moments at South High. Keep reading to take one last trip down memory lane with members of the Class of 2026.
Strouts: My most memorable moment while at South High had to be my senior year homecoming weekend. That football game was so fun, and hanging out with my friends afterward made it even better. Homecoming itself was also memorable. Although I didn’t win any royalty — not that I planned on it — it was still the most fun I’ve had at a homecoming dance.
Gallegos: My most memorable moment was senior year homecoming. I never would have thought I’d run for homecoming royalty, but I enjoyed campaigning and had fun with my friends leading up to the special day. Winning homecoming royalty was exciting. ‘You only live once’ has been my mentality this year.
Gomez Serna: A moment I will remember forever would have to be Senior Sunrise or dancing at prom with my girlfriend. I had a lot of fun, and it was a good memory to have from my last year as a student.
Vazquez Tapia: I would say being able to get the full high school experience, like prom and homecoming, going to soccer and football games and being able to make friends.
Velazquez-Becerra: My most memorable moment would be the opportunity to try out for the cheer team and be a part of it. I got to experience something new and out of my comfort zone, and I also met so many new people during my years of high school.
