Officially now juniors and in their last two years at South High, some members of the class of 2027 are looking forward to finishing their high school years and pursuing their careers.
Floridalma Ramos-Perez, Lydia Lopez-Lopez and Faustina Romero-Diaz are all looking forward to the end of high school and the start of their goals.
Ramos-Perez said she is determined to pass all her classes this year by earning Bs and Cs. She said she’s also looking forward to applying to college, pursuing a career as a doctor and helping her parents out.
Romero-Diaz, who will graduate early, said she is feeling a mix of excitement and stress but is proud and excited to graduate. She added that she understands the responsibility and hard work it will take to reach that goal, even when it gets stressful, but she knows it will be worth it in the end.
Romero-Diaz added that she is pursuing her dream career in health care, specifically nursing, and is interested in becoming a pediatric nurse because she wants to help children and make a positive impact on their lives. She said she is also considering occupational therapy because she wants to help people regain independence and improve their quality of life — something she is passionate about because both careers focus on caring for others.
Lopez-Lopez said she is excited to get a job and help her parents out. The career she wants to pursue is in the field of arts and communications. Lopez-Lopez is also looking forward to improving her guitar skills in her guitar class.
All three juniors said one thing they’re most afraid of is falling behind and not passing their classes. However, all three said they are determined to focus more, manage their time effectively and push themselves to succeed.
