It is your second year of high school, and you’re halfway done. Everybody says your high school years go by quickly, and they’re not wrong. Before you know it, you’re a senior. But don’t get ahead of yourself just yet. As a sophomore, your year can be filled with mixed feelings, but most students believe you should enjoy it, make the best of it and stay on track.
South students Quetzali Gonzalez and Sarahi Maravilla-Negrete shared their experiences and thoughts about their sophomore year.
Maravilla-Negrete described her sophomore year as a memorable experience because she made a bunch of new memories with her friends. Gonzalez described her sophomore year as a look into reality because everything got real with assignments and classes.
The most enjoyable moments for Maravilla-Negrete were going on field trips and volleyball season. For Gonzalez, her most enjoyable moments were homecoming season, especially the dance, because she found it fun and enjoyable.
As students, classes can get stressful, Maravilla-Negrete and Gonzalez said.
“In the beginning, it was pretty hard because it was something new, but as time went on, it became easier,” Maravilla-Negrete said.
“Most of them were chill, but they all have their own difficulties,” Gonzalez said.
Maravilla-Negrete and Gonzalez have some advice for upcoming sophomores.
“I would say do not stress because this is the time you will make the most memories,” Maravilla-Negrete said.
“They should know that they should not worry as much about the assignments and to remember to have fun,” Gonzalez said.
One thing Maravilla-Negrete is proud of doing this school year is getting through her first half of school. One thing Gonzalez is proud of doing this school year is that she did not give up in her classes, and she came to school every day.
Maravilla-Negrete and Gonzalez rated their sophomore year on a scale of one to 10.
“I would rate it an eight because it was an enjoyable year, but it would’ve been better without all the homework,” Maravilla-Negrete said.
“Definitely a 10 out of 10 because all it was was a balance of homework and fun,” Gonzalez said.
