Packers dominate Bryan in 5-0 rout

South builds early lead, defense secures shutout

South High dominated Omaha Bryan 5-0 on Saturday in a crosstown rivalry match.

Omaha South set the tone early with a goal from senior Joel Atencio and carried a comfortable 4-0 lead into halftime. Senior Jarib Lopez added two goals, both assisted by senior Leo Ramirez, as the Packers continued to break through the Bears’ back line.

The shutout highlighted the strength of the Packers’ defense and the organization they bring into the rest of the season.

Yaritzel Ramirez is a senior at Omaha South High School. Ramirez is in Latino Leaders, DECA and JAG and has been in the journalism pathway since her freshman year. She has enjoyed writing articles about South High students’ passions. This year, she hopes to write about tips and advice for any obstacles that students might run into throughout the school year. She also hopes to write more about sports and start writing about clubs.
