The Class of 2026 is getting closer to graduation day, with only a few weeks left in the school year. Seniors are bursting with emotions as graduation day gets closer.
Senior Kimberle Puentes said that out of all four years of high school, her sophomore year was her favorite because she transferred from Buena Vista High School to Omaha South High School. “It’s more relaxed here,” she said.
One tip she would give her freshman self is to pay attention in class and be more involved. One thing she will miss most about high school is seeing her friends, but one thing she will not miss is the AP exams at the end of the school year. Puentes said she is excited to graduate so she can start achieving her goals.
Senior Aj Southward said that out of all four years of high school, his favorite year was freshman year.
“I went to school with all my friends, met a lot of new people and gained new experiences on the basketball court,” he said. Southward said one of the things he wishes he could tell his freshman self is to be careful about who he chooses as friends.
“I’m going to miss the real friends I met along the way as we’re going to separate colleges I’m not going to see anymore,” he said. Southward said the only thing he will not miss after graduating high school is the school lunch. “I’m excited to graduate for a little bit more freedom, but it’s also scary knowing I’m going out into the real world,” he said.
Senior Aaliyah Branch said that out of all four years of high school, her favorite year was her freshman year because it was very exciting.
“New environment with new friends,” she said.
One tip she would give her freshman self is to turn in her assignments on time. Branch said what she will miss most about her high school years are the friendships she has made along the way.
One thing she will not miss is the schoolwork and all the stairs in the school. Branch said she is excited about graduating in a few months. “I’m ready to leave this school and have my own freedom,” she said.
All of these seniors have different opinions and views about leaving high school and starting a new chapter in their lives.
