Ilana Appleby-Leo, Junior Reporter
Ilana Appleby-Leo is a sophomore at South High and is in her second year in the journalism
pathway but has been doing yearbook since fifth grade. She has been dancing since she
was four at the Jewish Community Center (JCC). She does dance classes in school and
goes to Anime Club run by Rachel Rowland. She plans to do dance photography or dance
therapy after high school. She likes reading and K-pop but specifically Stray Kids,
BlackPink and Katseye. She loves rainy weather and lighting candles while she reads. She
likes the shows “School Spirits” and “The Owl House.” She has a kitten named Ginger and
two tarantulas – Rouge, a Mexican Red Knee; and Noir, a Brazilian Black. Her family has
nine pets total: two dogs, Jenny and Bear; four cats, Ginger, Lucky, Kaja and Elijah; two
tarantulas, Rouge and Noir; one snake, Coraline and a tank full of guppies.
