Packers had the overall champ Wednesday at the Husky Open. Senior Ryan Kubiak led the race after the first mile. Junior Jonathan Gonzalez took home the silver and sophomore Nemo Ortega finished fifth (Medals were awarded to the Top 10). Senior Tae Gott finished 12th. The boys team won in the seven-team field.
On the girls’ side, sophomore Yaretzi Cervantes finished fourth, junior Karina Flores Martinez seventh, senior Cinthia Alvarado-Roman eighth, sophomore Jessica Lara-Flores 12th and junior Fatima Pichardo-Lara 13th. Girls were second in the seven-team field.
This meet was a last-chance meet hosted for athletes who did not qualify for state. Sofia Benavidez-Sandoval, who did qualify, travels to Kearney Friday to participate in state cross country.
