The South High cross country team had a great weekend at the Cyclone Invite in Harlan, Iowa, recently.
Runners competed in a 5k course around the Harlan Golf and Country Club. Varsity had a total of four runners who earned a medal. Senior Sofia Benavidez led the way with a time of 20:26 handing her seventh place. Meanwhile senior Cinthia Alvarado came in 13th place with a time of 21:29. On the boys side, sophomore Jonathan Gonzales came in at a staggering 17:26 earning him 15th place with senior Ryan Kubiak coming in right behind him in 16th place with a time of 17:29.
For the junior varsity race, seniors Angel Rios and Eric Lopez both medaled with Rios coming in sixth place with a time of 19:59 and Lopez coming in ninth place with a time of 20:20. Sindy Gallegos rounded out the earnings with a 17th place finish and a time of 25:36.
