As the 2024-25 school year wraps up, many students of all grades are starting to think about their futures. Let’s take a minute to look just a little further into the future and ask some Omaha South High students – freshman Isaac Duran, sophomore Yesenia DelaCruz, junior Miguel Gomez Serna and senior Yaretzy Soto Garcia – where they see themselves 10 years from now.
Duran: In 10 years, I see myself studying architecture designing blueprints or maybe even welding. If not, I see myself using my art in a different way and becoming a tattoo artist, which is kind of something I’ve always thought about. By then I think I’ll be working towards starting my own family.
DelaCruz: I see myself as a successful immigration lawyer who advocates for justice and compassion for immigrants while working with organizations offering pro bono services. I see myself protecting the rights of families and individuals navigating through the legal system. I also hope I run my own dog treat business by combining my love for animals with a commitment to providing them with healthy and natural treats. I want to make a meaningful impact as both a legal advocate and an entrepreneur.
Gomez Serna: When I imagine myself in 10 years, I see myself as a firefighter; I want to be someone who can help people in distress or danger. Hopefully I’ll also just be doing the same hobbies like boxing, working out and living a healthy life and just having fun. I also see myself married to my girlfriend and having a big family.
Soto Garcia: In 10 years, I will be a role model who inspires young girls to know their worth and chase their dreams. I see myself traveling the world, getting married, and building my dream home with the cutest walk-in closet. I also want to start my own business and take my modeling and acting career to the next level all while staying healthy and happy. Most of all, I want to grow closer to God and live a joyful life.
