Down on 2102 Q Street, there is a small Salvadoran restaurant called Amigo’s Restaurant.
When you walk in you are hit by the amazing scents of various flavors. They’re mostly known for their pupusas, tamales and their homemade salas. The pupusas montadas are huge – almost the size of your head – and only cost $15.99.
Breakfast is every day, all day, so I would definitely recommend their plate called “Desayuno Mexicano” that has fried eggs with vegetables, fried red beans, rice, cream and avocado. Coming to a total of only $11.99, it definitely makes it worth the price.
To truly savor this dish, I would say you have to eat a little bit of each food at the same time. To truly get all the flavors, mix the food as soon as you’re going to take the bite.
The service is as perfect as the place. You are greeted and seated right away by the wonderful staff, and although the menu might be confusing, it won’t take long for you to get the hang of it. If you are truly not sure what to order, you can ask for recommendations. The ambience is good as well; the noise level isn’t bad at all, though it does get packed during weekends in the mornings and afternoons.
If you ask me if this restaurant is a hit or miss, I will tell you it is most definitely a hit. Everything is perfect, and if you love Salvadoran/Mexican food or even if it’s your first time trying it, this would be the best place to go.
