What are you thankful for? While not everyone celebrates the holidays,
Most people are thankful for something or someone that has impacted their life in a positive way. Here are some of the things South High students and staff are grateful for.
Social studies teacher Grace Solem-Pfeifer said she is not ready for the holidays because she must do a potluck and doesn’t know what to make as her dish. She said her favorite thing about the holidays is “when after the meal, cooking and traveling, I get to relax with people I love.” Solem-Pfeifer said she is grateful for the community she’s part of because it’s very caring and nice.
Senior Janet Salgado said she is really excited for the holidays because of all the food she’s going to eat. “I am grateful for my brother and my mom because they care for me,” Salgado added.
Senior Maria Ortiz said she is not ready for the holidays because she is feeling stressed due to having to cook this year. Additionally, “I am grateful for my friend Joselyn because I have known her since we were young.” Ortiz said her favorite holiday foods are anything involving potatoes.
Another senior, Joselyn Martinez-Ceballos, said she is also looking forward to having lots of food from which to choose this holiday and spending time with her family. “I am grateful for my family and my friend Maria.”
Everyone is thankful for someone or something even if they don’t celebrate the holidays. The holidays at this time of year are also a time to bring loved ones together.
