Lori Negrete-Bobier said she has always wanted to be a teacher.
Negrete-Bobier, a Foundations of Computing teacher, has worked at South for 25 years. She graduated from South High in 1988 and started her career in OPS at Ashland Park-Robins as an elementary teacher after graduating from college in 1993.
“I’ve always wanted to be a teacher because I’ve always been bossy,” she said.
In her long career of teaching, Negrete-Bobier has always had someone by her side working with her. “I’ve always worked with Susan Mclaughlin; we started together.”
Negrete-Bobier mentioned that when she attended South High, she was involved in volleyball, basketball and the Outdoors Club, and she was a senior class officer. The Outdoors Club was a club in which students learned about skiing, horseback riding and fishing; it taught students how to enjoy outdoor activities.
When asked if she had any plans to retire soon, Negrete said, “absolutely.” She will most likely retire at the end of this school year.
When asked if she will miss anything after retirement, she said, “It’s bittersweet, but it’s time to move on and start with something new and refreshing.”
“I have made some strong relationships with teachers, and I will miss meeting, talking and enjoying students.”
