What are students doing for Halloween?
Halloween is a popular holiday known for being a favorite for kids, teens and adults. It’s a time when people can dress in costume, hang out with friends, spend time with family, and, of course, trick or treat to get candy. And because everyone is unique, it’s the time of year where people can stand out, show their creativity and transform themselves into whomever they want, and Omaha South students are no exception.
“I will be Emily from Corpse Bride,” said Senior Diana Ramirez. Emily is one of the main characters from the well-known animated movie Corpse Bride that came out in 2005.
Ramirez said her own blue hair inspired her costume this year, since the main character Emily also has blue hair. When asked what costume she would like to see this year, Ramirez said she would “love to see a Gojo Satoru costume because he is cute and hot!” Gojo Satoru is one of the most popular characters from the manga book and television show Jujutsu Kaisen.
Ramirez said she believes students should be allowed to wear costumes to school. “Halloween is a harmless holiday that allows students to express their creativity and its overall fun; it would really make them feel welcomed. And after all, the teachers could also join in on the fun and celebrate with their students.”
Some students, however, prefer celebrating the holiday at home.
When asked what she will be doing for Halloween, junior Jennifer Ayala-Resendiz said she will “probably buy a bag a candy and stay home with my boyfriend watching scary movies.” She said she also enjoys the film Corpse Bride.
Overall, everyone is doing something different, but they aren’t doing it alone, and that’s what makes Halloween special to everyone in the end.
