A change in seasons means a change in style at Omaha South High School. Students are embracing the cold weather, and fall fashion is back in full swing! With new trends and pieces, students have plenty to say about what it means to dress for autumn.
One thing a lot of students agree on is dressing appropriately for cold temperatures. Many students mentioned a helpful tip for wearing skirts on chilly days. “Wear fleece tights underneath so you don’t freeze!” said senior Maria Pu Ponce.
Others also mentioned wearing long sleeved shirts, jackets and hoodies. Senior Patricia Trujillo said her go-to outfit in fall is “baggy jeans and an oversized hoodie.”
Several discussed layering, an important method for cute and warm outfits. Ponce said one of her favorite outfits featuring layers includes “a skirt, tights and a sweater.”
Another way to make your outfit pop is with accessories. A lot of the trendy accessories students are wearing include beanies, old fashioned hats and trapper hats – hats which feature fur ear flaps and were traditionally worn by fur traders and trappers. Some students named popular shoe brands they see a lot as well such as Uggs and Converse.
While these name brands are popular among students, thrifting seems to be even more popular.
“I get almost all of my clothes from Goodwill,” Trujillo said.
Junior Denise Lagunas said something similar. “I would say I get most of my clothes from Goodwill or Thrift World.”
Another popular place students go for secondhand clothes is an app called Depop. Other common places students said they get their clothes from are Ross, Walmart and Shein.
As we can see, fall fashion at South High is as diverse as its students. Remember that fashion is all about expressing your unique style.
