South High’s Robotics Club offers students the opportunity to make robots and then compete with other schools to see just how good their robots are, according to Leo Fogel, South High science teacher.
The robotics club at South High meets every Wednesday right after school in Room 017. If you are interested in joining, everyone is welcome.
There are eight members currently in the club, and they usually have two competitions every month.
Fogel said he would like everyone to know that “if you like programing and coding or hands-on activities, it’s a great club to join.”
Fogel said if he were to give advice to someone interested in robotics, he would tell them that “you can always improve your robot and make it better, but if you’re working as a team, always work together and improve the robot together.”
Freshman Denise Hernandez joined robotics second semester. Hernandez said she likes robotics because “I like building robots; it’s like building Legos.” Hernandez said she has built one robot already, and she hopes she can build more in the future.
